Meet Rebekah Gagne
A passionate and experienced educator, I am a reading specialist who has taught in public and private schools on Long Island and in New York City for more than 20 years.
I am a certified Orton-Gillingham reading tutor for all elementary ages, including students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities.
I hold a dual master’s degree from Bank Street College of Education in general education and teaching literacy. I have taught all elementary ages, from pre-k to 6th grade, both as a classroom teacher and as a reading specialist.
In addition to my classroom experience, I am also a parent who has seen my own child struggle with — and make impressive strides to overcome — dyslexia.
The totality of my experiences as a teacher and a parent uniquely positions me to understand and guide your child’s reading journey. I have seen first-hand how advocating for early, intensive intervention can guide children to academic success.
I am certified in Orton-Gillingham through the Dyslexia Training Institute. The program is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) at the Accreditation Plus level. The extensive training and supervised practicum program enable me to implement the Orton-Gillingham approach to provide structured, multi-sensory, and prescriptive literacy intervention.
I have a dual master’s in education from the Bank Street College of Education. My degree is in general education and teaching literacy. I am New York State certified in general education (1-6), early childhood education (birth-2) and literacy (birth-6th).
